Starting Again

This is a picture of the Demopolis Yacht Basin. The blue top building is a restaurant that has delicious crawfish and shrimp. They are building a new marina that will handle over 400 boats. This is quite an operation that is in the country. You cannot get a bus of of Demopolis. The closes place to rent a car is 60 plus miles away. At the bottom of these pictures is an entry about my next leg of the trip.
This marina also provides fuel for tugs. The above picture has two tugs rafted up and they are taking on fuel. I was told that tugs will take on 5,000 to 40,000 gallons of diesel at the time. Every day there are tankers delivering fuel to the marina. Friday there were two at the time delivering fuel.
While I was in New Bern, while waiting to restart my trip, I developed several hobbies. One was making home made ice cream. The Simplicity Garden Tractor above is a recent purchase, which I added a 5 gallon ice cream maker to the rear power take off. Since this picture was made I have painted the tractor and in the process broke something. I can't get it to run. I will resolve this issue when I get back to New Bern.

During the late summer and early fall of 2009 I took my kids Drumn fishing near Oriental NC. The following two pictures are Drumn that I caught while fishing with my kids. We had a great time.

Well I'm back in Demopolis, Ala. It is Sunday April 4th. I arrived Thursday, put the boat in the water and have been getting it ready to continue my trip.
I last updated in January. A lot has happened since I left Demopolis the end of July. If I can remember how to down load pictures I'll give us an update of things that happened while I was back in New Bern. They are above.

I plan to begin my trip down the Black Warrior River, which is a part of the Tombigbee river system to Mobile. I will begin the trip alone and will anchor out for the next 200 plus miles as there is no marina's between here and Mobile. The weather is beautiful and the river is low enough for me to safely travel at 7+ knots. Hopefully I'll be in Mobile by Wednesday or Thursday.
